Background
Since 1996, Jörg Schauer designed and produced distinctive Flieger, Marine, and Bauhaus watches under the Stowa watch company. With the reputation of being a perfectionist, his limited production series and anniversary models are sold out for years and desired after by Stowa collectors worldwide. Try and search for 80th anniversary “Stowa FOLE” and you will be surprised.
In 2021, Jörg sold Stowa and left the company in 2022. However, he has retained his Schauer and Durowe brands for future watch projects. After seeing preview of some of his prototypes, all we can say is that future is bright for Schauer and Durowe watches.
The Big Idea
Ondra and Bhanu visited Jörg at his “Schwarzwaldhaus” in the Black Forest region and had the privilege to see his amazing personal collection. His personal collection contained few sterile Flieger dials. We managed to convince him to build us 8 Fliegers for Micro Praha.
Case and the dial
The base is the Baumuster Type “B” Flieger dial in a 40mm steel case. However, to give it an authentic feel, he gave it a bead-blasted treatment. The case and dial are made in Germany. The steel-blued hands are made by reputable Universo from Switzerland. The strap is also made in Germany, and a high-quality Schauer buckle is also bead-blasted to match the case.
The Movement and the Personification
Jörg’s philosophy is to always utilize the best materials. He recommended that he would clean and hand-finish ETA 2824-2 TOP Grade movement, which is adjusted in five positions: accuracy of +/-4 sec/day up to +/- 15 sec/day. He installed a sapphire crystal for the decorated movement and custom rotor to be visible.
Being the creative hands-on person that Jörg is, he immediately went to the bench with a blank rotor and caseback and began the deep laser engraving process with Micro Praha and Schauer co-branding. We personally love his new Schauer Schwarzwald Horns logo.
